Baick Ho Cha
Baick Ho Cha (b. 1974) is a composer & educator. He began his music lesson at the age of 5. He got his bachelor’s degree from Yonsei University (1997) and his master’s from NYU (2001) and Aaron Copland School of Music (2010). He has also finished his Doctor of Education program (ABD) in 2008 at Columbia University. He is also a MAX/MSP expert. He has received numerous merit-based scholarships and awards from prestigious music competitions in S. Korea and in the US. Now he is president of Queens College New Music Group, organizing concerts for new music. He has studied music composition with Bruce Saylor, Hubert Howe, David Schober, Robert Rowe, and Jae-yeol Park. He also studied film scoring with Ron Shadoff at NYU. He has 17-year teaching experiences.

David Bridges
David Bridges is an internationally performed composer who is pursuing his MA degree in composition at the Aaron Copland School of Music and studying with professor Bruce Saylor. He is the Secretary and Treasurer of the QCNMG. David has received commissions from clarinetist Laurie Friedman-Adler, hornist Daniel J. Partridge, and pianist Krissy Kaplan for solo works on their respective instruments, the Hofstra New Music Ensemble, and PMEA District IX. He received the Luigi Dallapiccola Award in Composition from ACSM, is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society and was awarded several honors from Hofstra University.

Kaori Tanioka
Kaori Tanioka was born in Japan and began studying piano at an early age. She got a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and graduated with Jazz Performance and Jazz Composition major. In 2003 she received the first prize of IAJE College Jazz Composition Competition. From 2004 to 2007, she attended Jazz Composition at BMI Jazz Composer’s workshop. She currently studies composition with Bruce Saylor and organ with J.P. Knijff at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York.

Maria Mykolenko
Maria Mykolenko is a student in the M.A. in composition program at Queens College. She has studied composition with Jeff Nichols and Hubert Howe at Queens. Before this she studied composition with Jonathan Kramer, Joseph Dubiel and John McGuire at Columbia University.

Jaegoo Lee
Jaegoo Lee was born in Seoul, Korea. He received his B.S degree in Biological Science from Sungkyunkwan University in 2002 and his B.M in Music Composition from Kyungwon University in 2005. He is a current graduate student at the ACSM, where he is studying with Prof. Bruce Saylor. Among the major prizes he has won in Korea include the Seoul Contemporary Music Festival (2005,2006), the Korea Art Song Festival (2006) and the Joong-ang Music Competition (2007), and he was also awarded the Presidential Scholarship for a Valedictorian, Department of Composition, Kyungwon University (2005).

Hirotaka Kato
Hirotaka Kato is majoring in MA in composition at the Aaron Copland School of Music. This is the first semester as a graduate student. Before coming to Queens College, he studied Music Engineering. He is active as a sound engineer and interested in compositions of music effects, sonic design and sound environment. Hirotaka has studied with Prof. Bruce Saylor from this semester.

John Hederman
John attended the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College where he studied composition with Shafer Mahoney. Before attending Queens college, he also studied privately with Daniel Ott of the Julliard School of Music. John now studies composition with Bruce Saylor. He has highly diverse musical interests and spent the majority of 2006 living in New Delhi, India studying Hindustani Classical music and the Hindi language first-hand. John is also fascinated with modern dance and has had multiple musical works choreographed and performed around the city, at venues such as BWAC(the Brooklyn Waterfront Arts Coalition) in Redhook and DNA near City Hall. He currently performs throughout the city and in Boston with his Pop/Rock & Reggae band Downtown Eqiupment where he is guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter (youtube.com/downtownequipment).
